Pain is the number one chief complaint in our clinic.

Why is that?

There is a traditional Chinese saying which states: “If there is free flow, there is no pain. If there is pain, there is no free flow.”

Free flow relates to movement of qi and blood, which move together. Essentially, the doctors in China over 1,000 years ago were talking about circulation. If qi and blood are not moving at optimum capacity, symptoms occur. Pain is an obvious side effect of qi and blood stagnation. The stagnation can be attributed to physical, physiological or emotional/mental stressors.*

This theory was re-affirmed by Dr.John Sarno who theorized that most non-structural back pain is a direct result of the nocebo effect inciting the mind/body process and not some spinal pathology, soft tissue problem or any form of anatomical dysfunction. Instead, he states that the pain created by the TMS condition is merely a defense mechanism that is designed to protect the individual against repressed and suppressed emotional issues. He had been very successful with this care regimen, claiming a very impressive cure rate that accounts for about 97% of his patients.*

But true Asian medicine based acupuncture treatment, NOT medical acupuncture or dry needling, can accomplish the same success. Both research and working with thousands of patients in our clinic affirms this.*

So, in reality, our acupuncturists relate all dysfunction in the body to qi and blood stagnation in the acupuncture pathways. Whether a physical or emotional manifestation is is irrelevant. Therefore the goal of every one of our acupuncturists is to move qi and blood in the acupuncture pathways and restore proper flow.*
