Tao Yin
Found in an ancient burial ground, Mawangdui; on a silk scroll, there was one of the oldest forms of medical exercise recorded. Tao Yin, which means guiding and stretching, is a form of gentle exercise. It resembles a blend of Qigong, Yoga, and Tai Chi. The practice is gentle and invigorating, with the focus on improving circulation, moving lymph, stress reduction, improving balance, and harmonizing the nervous system. This form of exercise is beneficial to everyone and is still taught in hospitals in China today.
The main goal of Tao yin is to create balance between internal and external energies and to revitalize the body, mind and spirit, developing strength and flexibility in muscles and tendons. “Tao yin.” Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia, 2 May. 2015. Web. 18 Nov. 2015.
