Dr. Kenneth Hoffman, DAOM, L.Ac.
Our Medical Director and Founder
Ken Hoffman is a Doctor of Acupuncture and a specialist in Natural Medical Care. In 1991, he began private training under the tutelage of a Taoist medical and qi gong master where he began learning the art of Chinese healing. This culminated in a sabbatical to Taiwan where he lived and studied Chinese healing arts in Chi Nan Temple.
He then completed a 4 year Chinese medical school program with an internship at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY. His post-graduate specialties included study with some the best doctors in functional medicine where he focused on the integration of western bio-medicine including blood chemistry analysis, endocrinology and the use of Medical Infrared Thermography. He has performed more than 18,000 acupuncture treatments on over 7,000 patients since starting his practice which has now grown into the busiest clinic of its kind in the state of Connecticut.
The system of Medicine he has founded, Integrative Natural Medicine, is a unique blend of his years of experience and combines the best of eastern medicine and modern functional medical sciences.
He is the host of the local radio show, “The Natural Medicine Connection” on 800 AM WLAD. It is the only show of its kind in Fairfield County focused on an integrative holistic approach to health. He is also co-author of the book “Essential Remedies for Women’s Health” a compendium of healthy advice and information specifically for women’s issue.
Dr. Yarilis Vazquez, ND
Dr. Vazquez is a board certified Naturopathic Doctor licensed in the state of Connecticut that started as a resident at SOPHIA Natural Health Center in October of 2016. She runs our laboratory and does the functional testing as well as nutritional consultations. Dr. Vazquez works with the rest of the team of practitioners integrating Naturopathic and Functional Medicine with Eastern Chinese Medicine to achieve and restore our patient’s health.
Dr. V completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Science. She then moved to Connecticut to attend the College of Naturopathic Medicine at the University of Bridgeport where she completed a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. V has a passion for helping others and during her training at the University of Bridgeport, she did multiple clinic rotations at Community Outreach Clinics where she would provide naturopathic care to patients from multiple backgrounds, ages and conditions. She also works with the Hispanic community providing Spanish interpretation for school meetings and PPTs, DCF meetings, DCF home visits and medical interpretation.
Christopher Maslowski, L.Ac.
Christopher Maslowski is an Associate Acupuncturist here at SOPHIA Natural Health Center since October of 2015. He graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Manhattan, NYC. Christopher is also a Board Certified Herbalist and a Registered Yoga Teacher. He is well trained in all East Asian medical modalities such as Classical Acupuncture, Tui Na (Manuel Therapy), and Herbal Medicine in order to help the body function more optimally.
Christopher is also an author of an informational book on Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine called “108 Healing Secrets”. Outside of work, Chris is a member of the UCONN Toastmasters International Club. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.
Jessica Crofts, L.Ac.
Jessica Crofts is a licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and since November 2017, a Resident here at SOPHIA Natural Health Center. Her training includes adjunctive therapies such as Moxibustion, Cupping, Auriculotherapy, Tui Na, Electrical Stimulation (E-Stim) and dietary/lifestyle recommendations. She holds a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado where she received specialized clinical experience in sports medicine, oncology, reproductive health, pediatrics, Japanese Kototama Inochi medicine, Qi Gong body/energy work, and Five Element acupuncture. She did a fellowship at the Heilongjiang Teaching Hospital in Harbin, China with clinical rotations in scalp acupuncture and physical rehabilitation, pediatrics, dermatology, and herbal medicine.
Jessica is currently completing a one-year residency program with Dr. Hoffman for advanced training in his treatment model, Integrative Natural Medicine (INM). She holds acupuncture licenses in New York and Connecticut and is board certiﬁed as a Diplomate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, which is the most advanced certiﬁcation available in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
