Your Different Treatment Options
Acupuncture Services in Wilton, CT
Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body—most often by inserting thin, sterile needles through the skin. It is one of the practices used in traditional Chinese medicine used to balance the body’s systems.
Secondary Acupuncture Therapies
Cupping is a method of stimulating the flow of energy, as well as blood flow, in order to relieve stress throughout specific points in your body. This is done by placing heated glass, or bamboo, cups over the any painful points across your body and then creating a vacuum seal that breaks up stagnation and promotes the healing process. Depending on our Wilton patients needs, the process can be done with wet cups, as well as dry cups.*
Diathermy is a technique involving the production of heat in a part of the body by high-frequency electric currents. This therapy uses heat to stimulate the circulation, relieve pain, destroy unhealthy tissue, or cause bleeding vessels to clot. This therapy is beneficial for Wilton patients suffering from muscle or joint conditions.
In the areas of Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, moxibustion is the medicine technique that usually involves burning a mugwort, a small spongy herb, that will help facilitate healing. This treatment is beneficial for Wilton patients who need to strengthen their blood, stimulate the flow of qui and maintain general health.
At our Brookfield office we provide Wilton patients with specialized services of Tui Na. This Traditional Chinese medicine technique is the use of therapeutic massage and body work to help with disharmony in the body.* It works to manipulate the Qi inside of you while harmonizing your yin and yang, to help treat the body as a whole.* Tui Na is an excellent alternative therapy for children as it is non-invasive.
