Your Different Treatment Options
Acupuncture Services in Trumbull, CT
Acupuncture is a method of healing the body by inserting thin, sterile needles into acupuncture points around the body in order to balance the flow of energy within. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this flow of energy is comprised of two different forces known as yin and yang, which, when in harmony, define a healthy body. This energy may also be referred to as Qi.*
Secondary Acupuncture Therapies
Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cupping is a method of relieving soreness in our Trumbull patients by placing heated glass, or bamboo, cups on the skin over the meridians of the body. This creates a vacuum seal on the skin that promotes blood flow in affected area, and aims to stimulate the flow of energy.*
Diathermy, also called moist heat therapy, is the process of relieving pain and tension within muscles and joints with the use of high-frequency electrical currents. This creates heat within deep tissue and, as a result, can stimulate blood flow, as well as increase flexibility in the affected area.*
The process of moxibustion involves burning an herb called mugwort over the skin where the pain in an affected area radiates from. This option may help our Trumbull patients by generating blood flow, and therefore relieving pain.*
The Sophia Natural Health Center also offers a type of physical therapy called Tu Nai to our Trumbull patients. This form therapeutic massage is similar to acupuncture in that it helps to stimulate blood flow, relax muscles, and manipulate the flow of Qi in the body. Tu nai, also a Traditional Chinese Medicine, may be used as a substitute for acupuncture where the use of needles, or the necessity to stay still is not possible.*
Dietary Therapy in Trumbull, CT
Sophia Natural Health Center also offers Dietary Therapy to our Trumbull patients. Otherwise known as Chinese Dietary Therapy within Traditional Chinese Medicine, this form of therapy focuses on finding the right nutritional components to manage your condition.*
Dietary Therapy is centered around the idea that food has healing power beyond just providing sustenance. Food also has the power to affect the balance of yin and yang within the body, and by managing nutritional intake, you can manage these forces.*
