Your Different Treatment Options
Acupuncture Services in Oxford, CT
Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body. It is one of the practices used in traditional Chinese medicine used to balance the body’s systems. We can bring your energy flow back into place by inserting tiny, sterilized needles inside of hundreds of acupuncture points in your body, where your Qi flows.*
Secondary Acupuncture Therapies
Cupping is one of the other treatments you can receive at Sophia. A part of Oriental medicine, cupping is the process of creating a vacuum seal on an Oxford patient’s body with glass cups or bamboo jars. This will be used to break up stagnation and congestion and bring blood flow to the affected area to help our Oxford patients find a sense of relief from soreness.* Offered in two ways, both dry and wet.
Frequently used for physical therapy or rehabilitation, this practice can make connective tissue more flexible and increase blood flow, helping to accelerate the healing.* It is the use of a high-frequency electric current to help stimulate heat generation inside a targeted tissue. This practice can help increase blood flow and make connective tissue more flexible, helping to also accelerate healing of our Oxford patients.*
In the areas of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort on particular points on the body in order to help facilitate healing. This will help our Danbury patients stimulate their blood flow and overall well being.
A form of bodywork based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we offer the specialized services of Tui Na in our Brookfield office. Tui Na works to harmonize yin and yang in your body while manipulating your QI. In many cases, this therapy is an excellent alternative to acupuncture. It may be used as a substitute for people who are afraid of needles or small children.
