Your Different Treatment Options
Acupuncture Services in Brookfield, CT
Customary to Traditional Chinese Medicine, good health is a result of a harmonious balance of yin and yang also known as Qi. Illnesses that you experience can be a result of an imbalance in these two forces. Your Qi will flow through hundreds of acupuncture points in the body. During an acupuncture session, we will insert tiny, sterile needs into these points to help bring your energy flow back into a proper balance.*
Secondary Acupuncture Therapies
Also apart of oriental medicine, Cupping is the process of creating a vacuum seal on a patient’s body. Small glass cups or bamboo jars will be used to break up stagnation and congestion and bring blood flow to the affected area. Offered in two ways, both dry and wet, cupping can help our Brookfield patients find a sense of relief from soreness.
Often called, moist heat therapy, Diathermy can help with muscle and joint conditions. Frequently used for physical therapy or rehabilitation, Diathermy is used the use of a high-frequency electric current to help stimulate heat generation deep inside a targeted tissue. This practice can help increase blood flow and make connective tissue more flexible, helping to also accelerate healing.*
In the areas of traditional chinese medicine and acupuncture, moxibustion is the medicine technique that usually involves burning a mugwort, a small spongy herb, that will help facilitate healing. This will help our Brookfield patients strengthen their blood, stimulate the flow of qui and maintain general health.
At our Brookfield office, we offer the specialized services of Tui Na. Considered a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this is the use of therapeutic massage and body work to help with disharmony in the body. Tui Na works to harmonize yin and yang in your body while manipulating the Qi (pronounced “chee”), a vital energy that circulates your body, helping to treat the body as a whole. We will often use Tui Nai in the replacement of acupuncture when it is not necessary or suitable for the patient, such as in cases with children.*
