Natural medicine has been used for so many years with the goal of treating the cause of an illness instead of suppressing or masking the symptoms. It is safe and effective as long as good quality products are used in combination with the guidance and expertise of your healthcare provider, such as a Naturopathic doctor. The treatment protocol decided for you by your healthcare provider is individualized and the duration is going to depend on your unique situation. A rule of thumb is a month of treatment per every year a person has had a medical condition; however, that can vary per person.*

There are some steps in a treatment protocol:

  • Symptomatic Care/Relief: In this stage, your healthcare provider will work on alleviating the symptoms that brought you to see him. When symptoms are relieved, then a deeper approach can be taken.*
  • Corrective Care/ Fixing the problem: At this point, your physician is working on determining the underlying cause of your illness to address it and fix it. Depending on the complexity of your situation and the rate your body heals, the length of this step is going to vary. It could be a month or months. The goal of this step is to get your body in optimal health so then you can move into maintenance which is the third step.*
  • Maintenance Care/ Preventive care: By this stage, your body has achieved correction or maximum improvement and enters the phase of maintenance where the body gets what it needs to stay healthy. There are things not readily available in our diets and those need to be supplemented so the body can continue to function properly.*

It is always important to consult with your healthcare provider to determine what is the best treatment option for you. Every person is different and that is why we individualize treatment based on your situation and what your body needs, so you can get optimal results.*
