Your Different Treatment Options
Acupuncture Services in Plymouth, CT
Customary to Traditional Chinese Medicine, good health is a result of a harmonious balance of yin and yang, also known as Qi. Illnesses and injuries that you experience can be a result of an imbalance in these two forces. Hundreds of acupuncture points run throughout your body, and by inserting tiny needles into your skin we can help reduce stress, pain, and balance out your Qi.*
Secondary Acupuncture Therapies
Cupping is another form of alternative medicine that we practice here at Sophia. We use glass cups or bamboo jars in various sizes to create suction on the targeted area and break up stagnation. Cupping promotes blood circulation and can help reduce stress. We offer Plymouth patients two options for cupping: wet or dry.*
Diathermy, also known as moist heat therapy, is a technique that uses high-frequency electric currents to help stimulate heat circulation in a targeted area of tissue. It is shown to help relieve pain, increase blood flow, and make tissues more flexible which could lead to accelerated healing in a patient with joint or muscle issues. Some Plymouth patients may use this during physical therapy or rehabilitation sessions.*
Moxibustion is the method of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which a dried mugwort, a spongy herb, is burned over particular parts of the body to help regain the flow of Qi, strengthen blood, and maintain overall health. It has been used for hundreds of years and acts as a counter-irritant to certain pathogens.
Tui Na, a form of manipulative therapy used throughout Traditional Chinese Medicine, can help Plymouth patients find inner balance and harmonize their Qi. Qi is considered the vital energy that flows throughout your body, and if an interruption occurs, it may cause pain or discomfort. Tui Na can be used instead of acupuncture for some patients, often times children.*
