What Is Tui Na and how does it help?
Tui Na is a form of manipulative therapy that is used in conjunction with acupuncture and other hands on techniques. Tui Na is known around the world for its safe and effective treatment for a variety of conditions. This therapy focuses on maintaining an overall balance of one’s physical and mental health.
We provide Tui Na Services to patients who suffer from:
- Orthopedic and Neurological conditions
- Dysmenorrhea and chronic gastritis
- Shoulder and back pain
- Joint displacements
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Headaches and hypertension
- Digestive issues
Tui Na is suitable for children under 10 years old. This treatment helps regulate organ functions while also promoting the healthy growth of a child. Tui Na is a great alternative for treating children because it is so gentle. Practitioners can activate pressure points without the use of needles, so the overall flow of energy can become balanced.
The History of Tui Na
Tui Na is a therapeutic massage alternative that was created over 2,000 years ago in ancient China. The practice became popular in the United States when it was brought over in 1975 by Share k. Lew. He began teaching this therapeutic method at the Taoist University of San Diego. Since then, Tui Na has been a part of the curriculum of oriental medical schools and massage schools in the United States.
This alternative Chinese Medicine technique uses rhythmic compressions along different energy mediums to channel our bodies energies, as well as physical and emotional systems. While still growing in the United States, Tui Na is a standard treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospitals throughout China.
What to Know Before You Go
Tui Na is a non invasive treatment. Our trained and experienced practitioners will use the basic manipulation techniques of kneading, pushing, pinching, rubbing and other exercises to treat the root of your diagnosis.
Before your appointment, you should wear loose comfortable clothing so that the practitioner can move your joints through a full range of motion. Remember that pain is a messenger. Tell your practitioner if anything hurts during the massage so they can address it.
